SILVER ON THE GRASS.. : AK SHARMA

| May 17, 2015 |

Those were the days
It is said
On the entire world
Arbudanchal had
A great sway

When flowed seven rivers

When with the wild

The folks must have purred

Melodies
Like –
Let us find a shady wady
Pretty little brook;

Let us have some candy handy

And a picture book.

There all day we’ll stay and play and
Never mind the heat,
While the water gleaming, streaming,
Ripples round our feet

Alas it is true
No more any tweet
This seems a myth
The days seems to have vanished
Taking along with them the blithe

Yet few pleasures are still alive
The azure sky
The salubrious zephyr sigh
The parrots and their ruckus cry
And May filling the air with festivity

Giving home to every seed
Burning every weed

Like a Samaritan’s deed
It offers long days
Fulfilling the wish to make hay
Dreams in abundance and gay

With the looms of the sun
Clothing them
The stars filling their hem

And a minstrel in the hills and dales
Crisscrossing the fields
Sings to his heart’s fill
The song of the earth
The song of dewy mirth
The song of life’s worth

I hear with it
Lying in my bed
Dog barking far away
In the full moon’s bulb,

With the leaves
Like filaments

And the sky a shell of thin, transparent glass

Enclosing the late heaven of a summer day,

A canopy of shining sapphire above

The speckled moonlight

Silver on the grass…
