My life turned around when I was 41 says Lihas Trivedi. He participated in Athens Classic Marathon at Mecca of marathons-Athens, Greece (Where it all started 2500 years ago). At 44 years he set his eyes on his first Limca Book Record of running 25 hours on Treadmill & achieved it covering 194.02kms.Today at age of 50 he received his second Limca Book Record-An official Indian Record for running 50 hours covering 278.2kms on 400 meters track at Rajpath Club on his 50th birthday!
Age is just a number & one can start fitness at any age-I wanted to give a special gift to self on my 50th birthday & hence decided to run 50 hours for the 50th birthday. The goal was very tough but the mind was tougher-says Lihas Trivedi.
The journey so far
Year 2011-The journey so far has been very interesting! At 42 he did first Ultra Marathon-100km in
Singapore, before this he has not known what is an Ultra Marathon!
Year 2012– National record of running 182kms on road at Gurugram in 2012 in an event organized by Running & Living. Then Lihas ventured out for more & did Comrades Ultra Marathon in Durban South Africa (Considered the toughest inside 100km distance Ultra-It is 90km race). As a part of preparation for Comrades he ran newly constructed Ahmedabad ring road 82kms during training!
Year 2013– Now Lihas wanted to try something different & he did, Ironman 70.3 in Mandurah, Perth,
Australia, followed by Treadmill run of 25 hours nonstop covering 194.02kms! This earned me my first Limca Book of Records Certificate! The hunger for more kept him going and he did one more Utlra
Maratohn in Nilgiris-100km in the wilderness of forest surrounded by mountains!
Year 2014– The roads, the Treadmill was done & hence he ventured in nature with first Trail Ultra Marathon in Hongkong-100kms all through the mountains & beaches of Hongkong National park! A
tough one though!
Year 2015– After conquering all different terrains, it was time for desert! Run the Rann Ultra-100 kms in white Salt pan desert at Dholavira, Kutch was a unique experience! Running in middle of nowhere, everything around looked same! Lihas said it was scorching heat in the day & cool nights with moon light.
Year 2016– It was unique as he ran 3 races above 100kms preparing for the big one(UTMB)! The first
among the 3 was Run the Rann-161kms (100 miles), Goa Ultra marathon-100kms & the huge Bhatti
Lakes Ultra-222kms. This made Lihas qualify for his dream project-UTMB, he was only the second
qualifier from India till 2016.
Year 2017– He made it to the starting point at UTMB(171kms in the Alps passing through France, Italy,
Switzerland) the most difficult mountain Ultra in the World, at 71kms he had to give up due to
hypothermia (condition due to extreme cold weather).
Year 2018-It was Ironman time again; Lihas did his second Ironman 70.3 in Dubai to start the year
followed by an Ultra marathon at Indonesia in the deep tropical jungles-very unique experience as you
could not guess the route & no GPS works!
Year2019-Lihas ran a unique race of 105kms at North Pole in Akaslompolo, Finland in tough conditions
on the skiing slopes of Finland’s mountain terrain. Here he decided to celebrate my 50th birthday in
different way! The 50th year of my life, Lihas wanted to celebrate it differently so he decided to run on
a 400 meters track for 50 hours covering 278.2kms & proving a point Nothing is Impossible! This
earned him his 2nd Limca Book Certificate & another Indian National record!
Year 2020– The Corona scare!
Year 2021-With corona on rise & some relief later in the year, Lihas experimented with cycling & to his own surprise he did BRM-SR (Super Randonneur) in just 6 weeks! Ideally you have to complete 4 rides during the year starting from 1st November to 31st October in any given year. The distances to be covered are 200km, 300km, 400km & 600km!
The same year he underwent Varicose Veins procedure in his right leg & now he is getting ready for the next big one!
Year 2022.
It is not over yet till it is over! Today at 53 years I have dreams of achieving more, I will keep striving for more in coming year’s says
