Smt. Sombala Kumar, a darling of connoisseurs, critics, music lovers, press, and media persons, has performed all over the nation for past more than 22 years. Born in a musical family in Khandwa MP, she has mastered the nuances of the rich Dhrupad form, mostly attempted by her male counterparts. Maintaining the sterling purity of the Dagar Gharana, she has enriched the same with her highly individual, spirited zeitgeist!
The second coming of the maestro at Mount Abu, again under the auspices of SPICMACAY Mount Abu, would resound at the banks of the world famous love Lake Nakki, with her afternoon offerings. She would be accompanied by her husband Ptd. Prithviraj, on Pakhawaj. Her offerings are heady and intricate, enriched with the magic of her highly structured, honed, disciplined voice, something rather unheard for a woman in the world of Dhrupad!
